Together with volunteers, supporters, stakeholders and staff, we are committed to reducing the impact of cancer on individuals and the community. This work goes across every area of cancer:
- Conducting and funding that underpins the work in supporting cancer patients
- Supporting patients as they navigate the cancer journey
- Advocating to ensure that governments take action on cancer
Cancer Sierra Leone (CSL) is an independent non-profit charity supporting children, adults and their families affected by cancer in Sierra Leone and the diaspora. We are funded by various organisations and communities through donations and sponsorships.
Our unique combination of local programs will be delivery in Sierra Leone, community engagement and national influence will enable everyone who cares about cancer to contribute and make a difference.
It will supplement existing services through the provision of cancer prevention and health promotion programmes, facilitating access to health care services for cancer patients and offering support and informal counselling to those affected and their families.
Who We Are
History
Sierra Leone is a country located in West Africa, with a population of 6.1 million a life expectancy of 48 years for males and 49 years of females (UN, World Bank). The country has experienced a brutal war that ended in 2002, followed by the ebola epidemic which started in July 2014 and ended in March 2016.
Trustees
Cancer Sierra Leone employs a team of dedicated, professional staff to run and support all of our services on a day-to-day basis but the ultimate legal and financial responsibility lies with the Board of trustees.
