Cancer is curable if caught and treated in the very early stages. The NCBI findings of 2006 indicate that the majority of the women in Sierra Leone are aware of the dangers of the disease and had knowledge of someone who had died of breast cancer (59.2%). However, they are very complacent when it comes to testing of the disease. This mainly because they don’t know that they can be tested. The same goes for other types of cancers. We plan to raise the awareness of smoking and its effect, cooking with woods and inhaling the smoke from kitchens with no windows.
